Default New abrasive waterjets for micromachining

Swedish waterjet manufacturers Finecut AB and Sweden AB have jointly developed a range of Fine Abrasive Waterjet (FAW) machines for microapplications. With a kerf width of 0.3mm, the waterjets deliver the abrasive via water or air and can provide cutting jet diameters between 50 and 300 microns. FAWs feature a feed rate of 20m/minute (double that in fast-feed mode) and can achieve a positioning accuracy of ±0.01mm/300mm (20°).

The basic machine design features a completely encased stand-alone unit with a dedicated CNC operating panel and display screen. Its high-end control and servo system incorporates the Fanuc-GE ALPHA technology for optimal precision.

The technology also can be fitted with large-orifice jet heads for macro applications.
