Lawton Machinery Group (http://www.lmgpresses.com/) has augmented its line of injection-molding presses with the introduction of the all-electric, 8-ton Micro-Molder. LMG, a division of Trinks Inc., specifically designed and built the machine for molding LSR (liquid silicone rubber) medical parts.

LMG’s new Micro-Molder press delivers 3cc to 20cc shots.
The Micro-Molder features a vertical clamp, a vertical injection unit and a two-station rotary table that, according to LMG, is ideal for loading inserts and removing molded parts. The plunger injection unit can be fed from 12-oz. cartridges or a commercially available mixing-and-metering system.
Three injection units are available that deliver shot sizes ranging from 3cc to 20cc. The injection units can be removed in minutes for cleaning or to switch materials. Spare injection units are available.
All process parameters are entered into a menu-driven, color touch screen.
LMG’s smallest unit, the Nano-Molder, is an injection press designed to produce sesame-seed-sized medical parts. It molds components from 0.0001cm3 to 0.35cm3 that weigh as little as 0.0001g and have wall thicknesses down to 0.001". Shot sizes range from 0.01cc to 0.75cc.
LMG recommends the Nano-Molder for an array of materials, including LSR, Pebax, nylon, Tecoflex, polyurethane, Polysulfone, PEEK PET and bioabsorbables.
